ASSESSMENTS AT OUR CENTRE

Understanding a child’s developmental profile helps us provide the most appropriate support and learning environment.
We offer
two types of assessments, depending on the level of insight required.

STEP 1: UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD

CENTRE DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENTS

(Conducted by our Intervention Program Consultant & Education Team)

These assessments help us understand a child’s developmental strengths, learning style, and support needs. They are commonly used to determine program placement and intervention goals.

Option 1A)  EIM SCHOOL-READINESS ASSESSMENT

Recommended for children being considered for our Early Intervention Montessori (EIM) preschool program.

FOR:

The EIM assessment is conducted through a trial class placement, where the child participates in an ongoing group session. This observation-based assessment aims to determine the child’s baseline skill levels and assess their suitability for a group learning environment.

KEY AREAS OF OBSERVATION:

  • Behavioral Regulation – Ability to follow class routines, manage transitions, and exhibit appropriate classroom behaviors.

  • Social & Peer Interaction – Engagement with peers, ability to take turns, and participation in group activities.

  • Communication & Social Skills – Expressing needs, responding to others, and initiating interactions.

  • Instructional Readiness – Ability to attend to teacher-directed tasks, follow instructions, and participate in structured learning.

  • Academic Skill Baseline – Assessment of the child’s current academic levels using a mainstreamMontessori syllabus designed for ages 3-6 (covering four academic levels). Rather than placing children solely based on age, we assess their actual skill level to determine the most appropriate starting point for learning. This ensures that we start at an appropriate level to build a solid academic foundation before progressing to primary-level learning.

ABOUT:

To determine suitability for the EIM program, and to individualise learning recommendations for the EIM Program.

OUTCOME:

Option 1B)  EIP DEVELOPMENTAL SKILLS ASSESSMENT

Recommended for children who may benefit from targeted early intervention therapy (EIP).

FOR:

The EIP assessment is conducted through a structured parent interview, using a series of checklist-based questions covering key developmental domains. This process helps us gain a comprehensive understanding of the child's current skill levels and identify specific areas that require support.

DEVELOPMENTAL DOMAINS ASSESSED INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Language & Communication – Expressive and receptive language skills.

  • Motor Skills – Fine and gross motor coordination.

  • Behavioral & Emotional Regulation – Responses to various stimuli, ability to self-regulate, and coping strategies.

  • Cognitive & Learning Abilities – Problem-solving, memory, and concept acquisition

  • Social & Adaptive Skills – Daily living skills, interaction with others, and play skills.

ABOUT:

The information gathered is used to design a highly individualized EIP program that targets the child’s unique learning needs and developmental goals.
